Practice at home on a world-class ballet floor

Sonata™ Foam Sprung Ballet Dance Floor provides much needed shock absorption to almost any existing hard surface area. It's often used in professional studios as an instant dance rehearsal floor over concrete surfaces. Additionally, its ease of use makes it the perfect ballet floor for home practice. Furthermore, it's also suitable for dance styles including contemporary, hip-hop, jazz, street and modern. Not suitable for hard shoe work.

Ideally suited for use on laminate, solid wood and many other smooth, hard floors (see Q&A below for information about use on carpet). Always ensure the floor is laid out flat and fully secured before each use.

Controlled-glide surface

Dance and perform in confidence with a beautifully textured controlled-glide surface. Optimum friction levels prevent slipping while still allowing you to glide effortlessly across the floor.

Foam-sprung shock absorption

A 5mm compressed foam backing offers subtle, yet noticeable shock absorption. It's effective cushioning helps dampen impacts from leaping movements, while en pointe work remains unrestricted.

You can roll out your dance floor whenever you need it. It lays flat almost instantly from the roll. Similarly, it's just as easy to roll up and store when not in use. Our dance floors and dance mats are ideal for use on laminate, solid wood and many other smooth, hard floors (see Q&A below for information about use on carpet). Always ensure the floor is laid out flat and fully secured before each use.

Q: Is this floor suitable for en pointe work?

A: Absolutely. The lightly textured surface helps give you grip and control your movements. Please also see the reviews (tab above) from our customers for their own experiences.

Q: Is it the same as a professional dance floor in ballet studios?

A: Yes, we use Sonata™ Foam-Sprung dance floor, which is a professional studio floor from Le Mark. It's the exact same floor you'll find in many leading dance studios. We simply cut it down to the size you order.

Q: Can dance floors be used on carpet?

A: Although not specifically designed for it, we have many customers who do use our Dance Floors and Dance Mats on short-pile carpets and have been really pleased. It is important to make sure the dance mat is secure (a 33m roll of dance floor tape is supplied with each floor), to prevent the floor from slipping or sliding and remains flat.

Q: Dance floor vs dance mat - What's the difference?

A: There's no difference at all between our dance floors and dance mats, only their size. A dance mat is simply a large dance floor that's been cut down to size. It's exactly the same material we use in fully-fitted professional dance studios.

Q: Does this floor come in bigger sizes?
A: Yes, all our dance floors are cut from jumbo rolls which are up to 20m long. As you can imagine, they get heavier the bigger they get, so we recommend calling us on 01480 469026 to discuss.

Purchased for my daughter to keep her in a safe dance practice space, whilst doing her local and associate zoom ballet classes. I purchased the 2 x 1 meter roll out sonata foam flooring in black. She has found the mat to have a perfect surface to do her pointe work on plenty of grip no slipping! Easy to roll out and the tape supplied hasn’t caused any damage to our laminate flooring (we did do a test before hand) Due to the nature of the surface it does seem to attract dust however this is easily cleaned before putting away. I received excellent communication from start to finish I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this flooring to anyone who is considering purchasing it’s worth the money to know your observing a better safe dance practice in your home.

I feel supported and able to dance properly. The strap that comes with it is great for storing it safely too.
